After a strange and challenging period for choral groups across the globe, Sound & Spirit is happy to announce its 2022 - 2023 Season: GET HAPPY! Like the title encourages and with a hat tip to the Garland/Streisand piece we’ll be enlivening, it’s time to realize that…Happy Days Are Here Again luxuriating out in front of us in a concert format that will thrill our members and delight our audiences. Sound & Spirit will continue to adapt to safe singing practices in compliance with state mandates to make a joyful noise and a concert-driven semester that’s a whole lot of fun.
This year, we are happy to announce the creation of a small ensemble for advanced readers and performers to add to the joy and technical prowess of our vocal menagerie. We are excited to announce a thrilling holiday concert on December 16th and 17th, an uplifting performance to propel you into the festive season. The Get Happy theme will drive both our fall and spring offerings, with crowd pleasers like our Kids Choir version of Ob-La-Di, Ob -La-Da by the Beatles and our Teens’ fierce rendering of Andy Grammar’s Don’t Give Up on Me - not to mention Stuck on a Feeling...just think of the “ooga-chucka” backbeat.
Sound & Spirit celebrates world music and rhythmic challenge of Zambian Bonse Aba and pivots just as comfortably to a triumphant and challenging setting of Don’t Rain on My Parade from the Broadway smash, Funny Girl. Did we mention a tribute to The Greatest Showman with From Now On and A Million Dreams and This is Me - guaranteed to bring down the house!
In its indelible style, Sound & Spirit honors the journey of the last few years with the achingly beautiful tribute to those we’ve lost and all we have collectively suffered in a stunning setting of the famous Scottish air, The Parting Glass - sure to touch your hearts.
We can’t wait to share this season with you
and to announce other community offerings
in partnership with Natick Center Cultural District.
Come join the fun!
